Welcome

Derwent Valley Field & Game was established in 1973 by members of the New Norfolk community with an interest in shooting the clay target discipline of sporting clays and was one of the first Sporting Clay ranges in Tasmania. We now have over 50 active members.

Our licensed range is located 10km from Bridgewater on Boyer Rd and covers 16 acres on the banks of the Derwent River.

Today, the range supports the shooting disciplines of Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays and English Sporting and is a member of the Field & Game Federation of Australia inc.

Our shoots are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month, commencing at 9.30am.

The majority of our shoots are 100 targets of Sporting Clays. In this event targets of various size and colour are thrown in singles or pairs using the terrain to mimic true field shooting. Clay target shooting, especially Sporting Clays is a truly challenging and rewarding sport.

New members are always welcome and practice days are open for all prospective members to come along and test their skills.

Derwent Valley Triumphs

Our 120 bird sporting clay competition with Hobart Gun Club was held on the 15th February.

This event was a special one whereby members of the Hobart Gun Club competed against the local Derwent Valley Field and Game Club members to determine which Club would obtain the best overall result after a 120 Down the Line competition at the Hobart Gun Club last November followed by a 120 Sporting Clays competition at the Derwent Valley Club grounds in February of this year.

At the start of the day the Hobart Gun Club members had a handy lead of 44 points from the November competition however the Derwent Valley Field & Game Club members made up 54 points on the day and ended up the overall winners by 10 points.

A fun day was had by all and it was great to see so many members of Hobart Gun Club making the trip for the day.

We look forward to more competitions like this.
